Christmas is a special time of year at Coate Water Care homes

Christmas wouldn't be the same without special events and decorations. Here is a selection of a few events which took place across Coate Water Care's care homes.

In the heart of rolling English countryside in Hampshire, Arbory residential home had the patio doors hand-painted with a stunning Christmas scene by one of the resident's Granddaughters.

Avebury House Care Centre in Devizes celebrated the festive season with Christmas cake decorating, a live singer Julie Hunt, gingerbread baking/decorating and to top it all off, they even had a special family day for the residents!

At Ashbury Lodge in Swindon, the team threw a game of Christmas card bingo. On top of this, the residents enjoyed songs of pride by a wonderful choir, Christmas movies and stained glass nativity scenes. On December 23rd there will be carol singing and on Christmas Eve they will be reminiscing about past Christmases.

The residents at Chapel House in Gloucester enjoyed steel pan music by J B Steel, music and movement sessions and the Hanukkah Jewish festival. To cap things off there will be a Christmas party on December 23rd and a carol service on Christmas Eve!

Church View in Stratton St Margaret, Swindon celebrated Elf For Alzheimer's Day by raising money for Alzheimer's! The residents received a visit from the school choir nd the Salvation Army and to end December on a high, they celebrated with a church service and a Christmas party.

Over at Downs View in Badbury, Swindon, the residents experienced a living nativity with Chole's mobile farm plus a visit from the owl sanctuary! Christmas cake making was a hit with the residents and  they also enjoyed a Christmas party with food and entertainment with their families.

Mockley Manor in the Warwickshire countryside also took part in the Elf For Alzheimer's Day, enjoyed music by the Strolling Players choir and will be holding a special Christmas raffle on December 23rd.

Over Christmas at all the Coate Water Care homes our chefs will be serving a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

All of these Christmas events and more are part of an ongoing programme of activities for residents across Coate Water Care, lead by Activities Coordinators who create stimulating programmes of events tailored to the capabilities and preferences of each individual resident.

Every morning our staff get the residents moving using seated physical activities and throughout the day, residents can participate in different interests including musical bingo, gardening, baking, flower-arranging and needlework, whilst professional musicians or scheduled film nights provide light entertainment.

Outings are an important part of the activities journey and our wheelchair-friendly minibuses mean that no-one is left at home, whether it’s for a picnic around the lake, a visit to the garden centre or a meal at the local pub.
