Diwali Celebrations at Westley Court Nursing Home

Yesterday afternoon saw the residents of Westley Court Nursing Home, along with staff and relatives celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.

Diwali, Deepavali or Dipavali is a four-five day-long festival of lights, which is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists every autumn in the northern hemisphere.
The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

To bring the festivities to life at Westley Court, a choice of traditional dress was available to be worn by staff and residents that chose to.
Singing, dancing, and traditional games we joined in by all.
Residents, Visitors, relatives and staff enjoyed special Diwali dishes that were created by the talented Westley Court Catering Team.

Enjoying the festivities was Managing Director of Coate Water Care, Chris Smith.
"Its great to see everyone enjoying this fantastic celebration, especially as the staff here at Westley have put so much into making today special for the residents.. Also i have to say the Paneer tikka that i had really was very good, well done everyone".
